Weather you are doing it in the bright lights of L.A. or in the shadow of the honky tonks in Nashville. Being a songwriter is one of the most rewarding experiences. When I started songwriting my strategy was pretty simple: try to write the best songs you can, and then go out and play them for anyone who will listen. Another key point is saying yes to everything you can, no opportunity is too small. Songwriting to me is about using every part of your life and turning that into a song. While most songwriters mostly write for themselves, there is always a opportunity to share the songs and stories with others. One thing that has been important to my career is Rowdy Ronda and Thundering Hoofs Productions for all their help with her publicist work and promoting. Another thing that has helped get me to where I am is becoming a member at NSAI and to get connected at a performing rights organization. These type of organizations are open to everyone and they provide so many resources and knowledge. Being a songwriter is one of the most rewarding jobs you can do, especially when you hear a crowd sing your songs back to you. Songs also serve has a time capsule, they can signify growth, reflection, and future aspirations.
